There is an old Chinese legend that refers to a money tree with gold coins on its branches. When you shake this money tree, gold coins fall like rain as if from heaven into your garden. This rainfall of coins has become a popular motif in old paintings and on screens, and is a great favorite with Feng Shui enthusiasts who believe in the power of symbolic Feng Shui. Use your creativity to make such a tree. Adorn the branches with lots of old coins and let them hang down auspiciously. Tie the hanging coins together with red thread or gold ribbon. You could also place a dragon amongst the branches to add further symbolism to the tree. Pin auspicious Chinese characters and inscriptions on the stem of the tree and at its base place three red lanterns, which will energize the tree with yang chi.
The expression “shaking the money tree” always means getting rich with little effort. For the wealth tree, coins should be tied into ten strands of one hundred coins. During the lunar New Year red lanterns were hung from the wealth tree to signify wealth all year round.
A variation on the money tree is the gem tree, made entirely of semiprecious stones such as crystals, amethysts, carnelian, citrines, or coral. The stems are usually made of gold. These beautiful trees are extremely auspicious since they create wonderful lucky energy for the whole house. These gem trees are widely available, so you should not have any trouble purchasing one for your home.
I keep my own gem tree, which is made of carnelian, in the northwest side of my living room since this is the corner of Chien, thereby signifying wealth from heaven. I also hang gold coins on my gem tree to activate the luck of heaven. You would be well advised to do the same since this little gem tree can bring awesome wealth luck.
