The lines of the hand can be divided into segments corresponding to periods of a person’s life, allowing the timing of the events shown in the hand to be predicted.
Giving the exact timing of events is extremely difficult because no two hands are the same. If you know that certain events shown in the hand have already taken place, you can ask the person how old they were when these happened and use them as a guideline when timing future events.
The diagram shown here gives you a rough idea of how to date events along each line, based on the premise that the average lifespan is 75 years. Obviously, if you are reading the palm of a 90-year-old, you’ll have to revise this dating system accordingly. There are some very complicated systems for timing events, some of which include putting rulers across the hand and measuring lines exactly, but these tend to confuse an issue which is already complex enough. You’ll find that once you’ve read a few palms and you become more confident, your intuition will start to guide you.
Avoid timing events from the wrong end of a line — remember that the life and head lines rise from the thumb, while the heart line rises from the percussion side of the hand. The fate and health lines rise from the wrist. When timing marriage lines, do so from the heart line up towards the Mercury finger. If a major or minor line is very short, divide that part of the palm, not the line itself, into four.
