The Five Elements of EARTH
Earth supports life. Located between the expansive Fire and the contracting Metal, as seen in figure 1, Earth denotes transition. Earth gathers and settles. Earth collects all that is dead and transforms it to living matter. As such Earth denotes usefulness and service. Like mountains that act as natural boundaries and contain precious minerals, Earth denotes barriers, storage units, and banks.
YOUR SEASON OF BIRTH
Earth has no one season of its own; all seasons belong to it. However Earth is strongest at the end of summer. If you were born in late summer, a yin season that in the Chinese calendar falls between July 23rd and August 7th, your personality may display, in addition to the warmth and high energy of Fire, such characteristics as reliability, determination, practicality, gentleness, and thoughtfulness. Cultivate your creative and inventive abilities to keep your Earth nature healthy and productive.
SHAPE, COLORS, AND DIRECTIONS IN SPACE
The shape of Earth is broad, flat, and square. Buildings that are low, broad, and square correspond to Earth. The colors of Earth are all the earth tones, beige, browns, oranges, and yellows. The compass directions are southwest and northeast. In addition to these, Earth is always in the middle of any given space.
Organizations corresponding to Earth provide needed services and staples. They include the entire food industry—farming, food processing, packaging, bakeries, supermarkets, grocers, caterers, candy and ice cream shops—shoe and clothing manufacturers and stores, home furnishings, real estate, financial services, banks, savings and loan institutions, collection agencies, insurance companies, investment brokerage, antiques, fine arts dealers, watchmakers, precision instrument and fine tool manufacturing, health services, clinics, hospitals, health food companies and stores, hotels, motels, beds and mattresses, storage and warehouse companies, security, and philanthropic organizations.
If you find that Earth is pronounced in your personality, you have aptitudes for such occupations as banker, bank teller, financial institution employee, broker, treasurer, accountant, dealer in valuable commodities and furnishings, real estate broker, executive, director, manager, secretary, judge, land developer, carpenter, builder, dealer in leather goods, dealer in clocks and watches, watchmaker, troubleshooter, hairdresser, osteopath, pediatrician, general practitioner, nurse, hospital worker, dietitian, dentist, physical education trainer, waiter, veterinarian, shopkeeper, food, shoes, and clothes salesperson, antiques dealer, gardener, serviceperson, or caretaker.
